Yona of the Dawn Season 2 Release Date

Yona of the Dawn Season 2

Since the first season hit a huge successful run, the second season was natural to become a thing, but, from the producers or Studio Pierrot never gives the announcement about the release date of Yona of the Dawn season 2.

The first season of Akatsuki no Yona premiered in Japan in October 2014 with 24 episodes. Since then, this series has gained a sizable fan base that is still waiting for Akatsuki no Yona Season 2 or another sequel.

The dreams become true, after few months from the last episode, three special episodes was released as an OVA sequel.

It’s more than five years, and now many fans are eagerly waiting the continuation of this anime. The first season of the anime covered the eight volumes of the manga, and the OVA was covered the volume 8. It would be fascinating to see season 2 develop out of volume 9, which is where it currently stands.

However, the second season of Akatsuki no Yona will most certainly not happen. It would have occurred a long time ago if there were any plans to do a second season of Akatsuki no Yona.

The main reason why season 2 may not happen is because the first season did not get huge profit. In fact, the manga series is still running, so there will be plenty of source material for a second season.

The possibility of Akatsuki no Yona Season 2 is not zero. We still hope that someday this anime will get a second season adaptation.

Yona of the Dawn Plot

Yona of the Dawn Season 2

The story begins with Yona, the princess of Kouka, who lives under her peaceful father King Il in the Sky Tribe. Yona enjoys a luxurious existence shielded from the horrors of the world outside the castle walls by her bodyguard Hak, commander of the Wind Tribe, and Soo-won, her former crush and king Il’s brother Yoo-hon’s son. However, Kouka is on the verge of devastation once again and is about to go through a political upheaval.

Soo-won pays his respects to Yona before her sixteenth birthday party. King Il’s refusal to allow Yona to marry Soo-won surprises and saddens her when he pointedly forbids her from doing so.

Yona, on the night of her 16th birthday party, returns to her father’s chambers in order to persuade him otherwise. Instead, she finds Soo-won driving a sword through King Il’s heart, revealing that he’d planned a coup d’état and would become Kouka’s new king. Yona and Hak are forced to flee to Fuuga, the Wind Tribe capital, as fugitives.

Yona and Hak go to search for an excommunicated priest who revealed the Crimson Dragon King and four Dragon warriors that unified the country, in accordance with advice from Hak’s adopted grandfather and prior Wind Tribe General Son Mundok. Yona begins a trip to locate these fighters in order to survive and restore her nation after being inspired by what appears to be a fictitious legend.
