Haikyuu Plot

Haikyuu Season 5

Shōyō Hinata, a junior high school student, is inspired to play volleyball after seeing Karasuno High School compete in Nationals on television. Hinata, who is himself small in stature, is influenced by a player known as the “Little Giant,” who plays for Karasuno’s short yet spectacular wing spiker.

Hinata is a young man who has little talent for volleyball, but he proves to be athletic and boasts a remarkable vertical leap. He joins his school’s volleyball team only to find he is its sole member, forcing him to spend the next two years trying to convince other students to help him practice.

In Hinata’s third and final year of junior high, some of his classmates agree to join the club so that he may compete in a tournament. They suffer a devastating loss in their first official game ever, when they are beaten by the team favored to win the competition – which included third-year Tobio Kageyama, called ‘The King of the Court’ for both his talent and ruthless playing style. The two start out as rivals, with Hinata vowing to beat Kageyama in high school afterward.

Hinata is accepted to Karasuno, the same high school that The “Little Giant” previously attended, but she is shocked to learn that Kageyama has chosen to attend the same school.

Karasuno is revealed to have a tarnished reputation as a powerhouse institution since the era of the Little Giant, when it was called “The Wingless Crows” by other nearby teams. Kageyama’s amazing setting abilities with Hinata’s remarkable athletic ability creates an unexpected but powerful setter-spiker combination.

On their road to redemption, Hinata and Kageyama encourage each other to reach their full potential while Hinata forms important friendships with his first real team, setting the stage for Karasuno’s journey of restoration to restore its reputation and make it to Nationals.
